General Specifications

   Sensor Type
   Your choices are...

   Pressure Sensor

Pressure sensor chips are based on micro-machining technology, where the physical parameter being sensed (pressure) causes a temporary and reversible deformation to a specifically designed mechanical structure etched into the solid silicon. The output generated can be an analog voltage or current, or a digital signal (serial, parallel, etc.), and is proportional to the measured pressure. Depending on the specific requirements of the application, these sensors are manufactured as stand-alone transducers, signal conditioning chips, or integrated transducers that include signal conditioning and the sensor on the same die.

   Temperature Sensor

Temperature sensor chips measure temperature. The output generated can be an analog voltage or current, or a digital signal (serial, parallel, on-off thermostat, etc.) that is proportional to the measured temperature. Vendors classify IC temperature sensors according to the input source and output-signaling method. The temperature source to be measured is usually the IC's own package, but airflow can be measured with an on-chip heater that raises the package temperature above ambient.  Remote temperature can be measured with a diode-connected transistor.  On the output side, analog-output, thermostat-logic-output, and serial-digital-output signaling methods are in widespread use.

   Magnetic Sensor

Sensor chips that measure magnetic field strength.  The output generated can be an analog voltage or current, or a digital signal (serial, parallel, etc.) that is proportional to the measured field.  Magnetic sensors have many industrial uses, from measuring automotive position, to driving speed and current sensors.  Low voltage battery-powered sensors are used in handheld instrumentation and in implanted medical devices.

   Humidity Sensor

Humidity sensors used in the detection and processing of humidity.

   Level Sensor

Level sensors are used in detection levels. Applications of level chip sensors include continuous fluid level sensing, moisture detection, etc.

   Force Sensor

Force sensors used in the detection force or strain.

   Torque Sensor

Torque sensors are used in the detection torque.

   Other

     Other unlisted sensor types.

   Output Interface
   Your choices are...

   Analog Current

Analog current is the output of the sensor, which generates an analog current proportional to the input (temperature, magnetic field, pressure, etc.)

   Analog Voltage

The output of the sensor generates an analog voltage proportional to the input (temperature, magnetic field, pressure, etc.)

   Serial

The sensor has a serial interface, such as I2C, SPI, SMBus, etc., which allows communication with embedded microcontrollers and other digital systems.

   Parallel

The sensor produces a digital parallel output signal.

   PWM

Pulse width modulation (PWM) output voltage.

   Logic

The sensor produces a logic output (thermostat, on-off, etc.) based on threshold input values. These sensors are used to drive on-off controls.

   Other

     Other unlisted output interfaces.

Packaging Characteristics

   Package Type / Mounting
   Your choices are...

   Bare Die

Bare die devices are sold in semiconductor die form. They do not have a case or packaging.

   MSOP 8

MSOP 8 products are packed in tape reel assemblies that include a carrier tape with embossed cavities for storing individual components. The carrier tape is made from dissipative polystyrene resin. The cover tape is a multilayer film composed of a polyester film, adhesive layer, heat-activated sealant, and anti-static sprayed agent. The reel is made of polystyrene plastic (anti-static coated or intrinsic) and individually bar coded. Reels are placed inside barcode-labeled boxes for shipping.

   QSOP

     Quarter size outline package (QSOP).

   SC-70

SC-70 is one of the smallest available IC packages. It is used in cellular phones, PDAs, electronic games, laptops, and other portable and hand-held applications where space is extremely limited.

   SO-8

SO-8 is a small outline (SO) package.

   SO-16

SO-16 is a small outline (SO) package.

   SOT23

SOT23 is a rectangular, surface mounted, small outline transistor (SOT) package with three or more gull wing leads. SOT23 features a very small footprint and is optimized for the highest possible current. Because of its low cost and low profile, SOT23 is used in home appliances, office and industrial equipment, personal computers, printers, and communication equipment.

   SOT123

SOT123 is a flanged, ceramic, surface mounted, small outline transistor (SOT) package with two mounting holes and four leads.

   TO-8

TO-8 is a transistor outline (TO) package.

   Other

Other unlisted or proprietary package types or packing methods.

Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.
Performance

   Supply Voltage (Excitation)

The input voltage required to operate the sensor.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Impedance

The impedance seen at the input of the sensor.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the "At Least" and "No More Than" values. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Bandwidth

The frequency range over which the sensor meets its accuracy specifications. Accuracy is degraded at lower frequencies unless the device is capable of a DC response, and at higher frequencies near resonance and beyond, where its output response rolls off. Frequencies in the database are usually 3 dB roll-off.
