A power generating plant in north central USA uses a mobile platform to convey coal from the railroad delivery point to a storage lot. The coal handling process was monitored and controlled by a wired interface. Because the system moved on rails, the data cable was frequently disconnected from the SCADA system, stalling the operation, and causing costly downtime. (read more)
